Ronald Searle Drawings

Digger's Story tells of an episode at Kanchanaburi when the artist Ronald Searle (of St Trinians fame) was recovering from beriberi and malaria and was looked after by a group of Australians including Digger. Ronald Searle was very grateful for the attention he received from these Aussies and describes the situation in his book To the Kwai and Back—War Drawings 1939 to 1945. By way of thanks he gave Digger two drawings, completed when he was working further up the railway. This is the first time these drawings have been published.
